Houseboat Rentals Alleppey-Kerala Tourism
Houseboat Rentals at Alleppey
When you think about Kerala tourism, think about Kerala backwaters. When you want to spend a day in the backwaters, you have to be in houseboats. When it comes to houseboat rentals, where else other than Alleppey?

To cruise in a boathouse is a dream to many travelers. Alleppey, especially its backwaters has so many different varieties of houseboats. They are all available for rent starting from Rs. 8000 (for the one with three-bedrooms).

The Alleppey houseboats are affordable when you go in a group. If you are solo-traveller, you have no option left but to hire a two-seater motor boat. You may also wish to hire a houseboat and enjoy the nature alone which I don’t advice.

We booked a three-bedroom boathouse for Rs. 8000 inclusive of non-vegetarian lunch and an evening snack. Trust me, the rent was on the lower side due to off-season. During the holidays, it is double the price.

The boathouse you see in this post is not the one we cruised. The Lemon Tree Vembanad Lake Resort manages this houseboat and it is lot better than the one we hired. Lemon Tree charges Rs. 22000 and more (according to the season and services) for a day’s cruise.

We got a chance to look inside the houseboat. Trust me this was well maintained and worth a stay with your loved ones. This is a two-bedroom cruiser with additional facilities like Jacuzzi, balcony and a sit-out.

If you are thinking about liquor, the Kerala State does not permit liquor sales except in few places. You can buy it from the State government operated stores and carry in here. Nobody is going to stop you.
So what are you waiting for? Pack your backpacks and head to Alleppey in Kerala State. The houseboat rentals vary according to the cruises and season. The more you pay the higher the standard. Double check before you opt in.
Usually the food is inclusive. They serve both veg and non-veg dishes, typical south Indian. Chicken and fish are common. You may buy additional items like fish, prawns or crab and request the cook to prepare. They will oblige.
