Coneflower: Rudbeckia (Black Eyed Susan)
The Coneflower – Lalbagh Gardens
This flower is called as Coneflower. Coneflower is also the name for other similar looking flowers. However, the one in this photograph belongs to genus Rudbeckia. This flower is also known as Black Eyed Susan, interesting, isn’t it?
|Coneflower, Genus: Rudbeckia (also known as Black Eye Susan)|
For your information, sourced from Wikipedia, the name Rudbeckia was coined by Carolus Linnaeus in honor of his teacher at Uppsala University, Prof Olof Rudbeck the Younger (1660-1740), and his father Prof Olof Rudbect the Elder (1630-1702), both of whom were botanist. I wonder how this flower got the name Black Eyed Susan? Never mind, I like this name.

I captured this flower in the Lalbagh Flower Show in Bangalore, which was organized during the month of Aug 2015 (Independence Day event).
